U odbranu daredevils-a, National Geographic Adventure predstavlja Avanturiste godine 2013, koji predstavljaju najbolju akciju, bilo da se radi o surfingu, planinarenju ili ultra trčanju.
Među onima koji su nominovani je i Austrijanac, Feliks Baumgartner, čije je ga je neverovatno postignuće probijanja zvučnog zida u sklopu Red Bull Stratos projekta, učinilo globalnom vešću, nakon uživo praćenog skoka sa preko 39 km.
Takođe nominovan je i free climber David Lama, nokon što je postao prva osoba koja je prošla jednu od najtežih ruta planine Ćero Tore (Cerro Tore) u Patagoniji, a Stiv Fišer je u okviru Grand Inga Projekta kajakom prošao reku Kongo u Africi, a takođe je veslao i do ivice Viktorijinih vodopada.
