Tyler Flanagan and Brock Crouch

Main Park at Mammoth is no joke. The jumps are big, the rails are tech, and everything is groomed perfectly. Tyler Flanagan and Brock Crouch spent time at Mammoth lapping the line and making it look easy, a respectable feat on Mammoth's features.

White Noise: Lucas Debari

Lucas Debari is a big mountain badass. However, he wasn’t always so bad in big terrain. As a young Mt. Baker upstart, Debari’s training facility was as world-class as they come for grooming those who put groomers aside with hopes of riding hairier terrain, and after a win at The Legendary Mt. Baker Banked Slalom before he could even vote, Debari was quickly catapulted into the limelight, and he has shined bright as one of today’s foremost all terrain rulers. That’s why we asked him to take part in this White Noise, because to ride the stuff that Lucas does, you’ve gotta be missing a little something between the ears, but every snowboarder is playing something into them. Here’s his picks.

Inside the Archives with TK: Jussi’s Bicycle

As Burton’s Archivist, Todd Kohlman is not only in charge of knowing more Burton history than Jake himself and giving guided tours of the Craig Kelly Proto lab, he’s also in charge of organizing, categorizing, and keeping track of at least one of everything Burton has ever produced. Some quick cocktail napkin math would show that…Burton started in 1977…so 2013-1977=36 years…then 36 x…anyway…that’s a lot of stuff. A trip over to the archives is always interesting and you never know what you’ll find, whether it’s Craig Kelly’s notebook paper contract or a giant cardboard check made out to Shaun White for winning the 2004 FIS World Cup at Whiteface Mountain, there’s always something to discover. For example, today we found a random children’s bicycle covered with Burton stickers. Why is this here? Luckily, TK knows the story behind everything in the archives.

Memorable Shredder Hairstyles

It’s no coincidence that some of the most influential snowboarders of all time also have some of the most memorable hairstyles of all time. From Shaun Palmer’s iconic Bozo the Clown ‘doo to John Jackson’s more recent dreadlocked bird’s nest thing, these guys tend to do things their own way with little care for what others think. Here are some of the more memorable hairstyles from over the years.

Battle of the Brands 2013 begins Monday, June 17

The trenches are dug and the front lines are stacked as SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s 2013 Battle of the Brands is about to kick off. Fifteen of snowboarding’s biggest and most influential brands have provided us with their individually filmed and edited Superpark 17 edits and they’ll be going head-to-head against their opponents. Brackets were chosen at random and the stage is set for all-out war.

The brands participating in the 2013 BOTB are: Burton, Bataleon, CAPiTA, Never Summer, DC, Nitro, Giro, DAKINE, Mervin Manufacturing, Arbor, ThirtyTwo, Quiksilver, Ride, Volcom, and Airblaster. Beginning on Monday, June 17th, 2013 at 12 AM EST, these fifteen brands will fight to the finish in three day, bracket-style elimination rounds until a winner prevails at the end of the summer. With Facebook-integrated voting only on snowboardermag.com, our viewers will be able to vote for the video they like the best, however, voters will only be able to cast one ballot in each round, so they must choose wisely.

Each team will be using their social media outlets in order to reach out to you the viewer and earn your vote. Be sure to check back to snowboardermag.com on Monday, June 17th at midnight EST to watch the first round videos and cast your vote for the brand you want to see advance to the next round.

Adult Camp: Cure Summer boredom at Boreal with Woodward Tahoe

                                          Yep, that looks pretty awesome.

Still not sold on going to camp this summer? Let Woodward Tahoe try to convince you. Just watch out for this bar called the Tourist Club, in downtown Truckee. They pour large shots of cheap whiskey, and if you’re not careful, you will end up with a serious snowboard-hindering hangover. Trust us.

Why it’s cool for adults, what sets it apart?

Our entire campus is private. We build our terrain and set up our facilities to inspire progression and we have the tools to simplify everything down to simple and safer steps that make it easy for adults to take risks that wont get them broke off. When you’re here you feel like you’re in the right place, because you can do things you thought might have otherwise passed you by…

Nightlife?

Aside from jumping in on any of the activities we have going with regular camp that are totally rad, adults get private late sessions in the bunker, a sunset photo/video session, and specially prepared meals on and off campus, such as sushi night. You’re also staying in downtown Truckee, so any number of bars are an easy walk.

                                         Who doesn’t love trampolines?

Other activities?

Digital Media courses in photo, video, sticker making, etc., dodgeball, signature pro activities, late night bar excursions, Banshee Bungee Slip and Slide, learn to skate, BMX, even learn some parkour, we offer a lake tour, and you can even treat yourself to a massage with a local spa or therapist.

                                         Adult camper at skate school

Accommodations?

We have partnerships with local lodging in the area and have the campers staying right in downtown Truckee, only 10 min from campus. You have all the amenities of camp, but you’re not stuck in dorms or around the youth campers all the time.

Maybe you’ll be able to do this by the time you leave camp.

Coaching format?

We start with a morning group session, and have an afternoon group session as well. Additionally, campers get one private session per week with their coach of choice. Basically, we create an environment where progressing is easy, by really breaking things down. Our facility has everything you can imagine, to help make learning easy and fun. There’s plenty of free time to get out there and kill it. We also do unique warm-ups everyday to get your body ready for fun.

Cost of Camp/Adult Camp session dates?

There are four session beginning June 16 with the final session beginning July 7. Cost of the camp with housing is $1,799 and if you don’t need a place rest your head its $1,599.

Oscar Rodriguez’ POV from the Chile’s Southern Andes

It seems to be a great start to the season in the Souther Hemisphere. With an early dump in Chile’s Southern Andes, Oscar Rodriguez enjoys untouched freshies with no trees in sight. You could say we are a bit jealous.

If this makes you tick, you should book a session with SGT so you can enjoy endless snow like Oscar here…
