As Burton’s Archivist, Todd Kohlman is not only in charge of knowing more Burton history than Jake himself and giving guided tours of the Craig Kelly Proto lab, he’s also in charge of organizing, categorizing, and keeping track of at least one of everything Burton has ever produced. Some quick cocktail napkin math would show that…Burton started in 1977…so 2013-1977=36 years…then 36 x…anyway…that’s a lot of stuff. A trip over to the archives is always interesting and you never know what you’ll find, whether it’s Craig Kelly’s notebook paper contract or a giant cardboard check made out to Shaun White for winning the 2004 FIS World Cup at Whiteface Mountain, there’s always something to discover. For example, today we found a random children’s bicycle covered with Burton stickers. Why is this here? Luckily, TK knows the story behind everything in the archives.
